‘Black Panther’ costume designer Ruth E. Carter explains storytelling through fashion

The Oscar-winning costume designer worked closely with director Ryan Coogler to develop the costumes – and it all started with a blanket. In “Wakanda Forever,” Cater’s work is even bigger and bolder.

Ruth Carter' s costumes were magnificent..especially for the underwater people's who were, to my amazement, based on ancient Mayas.. So amazing and beautiful

Miss Carter is a phenomenal treasure she is the GOAT. One cant help but get chills in seeing her genius exhibited in her work. The black diaspora should be proud of its legacy. No other race mode of dress evokes this level of pride that I feel when I look at the artistry in fabric, jewellery etc etc.

Black Panther has great costume design. Ruth E. Carter became the first African American to win for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design.

Well duh… it's Mother Africa. They have all different custom cultures attires… go to Africa you will see it… so seeing them on Wakanda is no surprise because it's part of the Africa Cultures attires… Xhosa, Dabele . ZULU. SWAHILI BIAFRA ETHIOPIA…. GHANA ETC ETC… SO THE COSTUMES IN WAKANDA ORIGINATED FROM MOTHER AFRICA….
